Wells is making the players hit 'his' pitch and letting the fielders make
the play. Taking a page out of Bill Lee's career. He's given up eight hit,
but has spread them out. When you have the team that committed the fewest
errors, have a little confidence in them. Just give them nothing they can
jack and keep the ball in the park. A very good outing.

A big lead to work with has also got to have a calming effect.

Maybe the injuries are some sort of a blessing in disguise. Wells' arm
is rested; in effect his season has just started, so he should be
fairly fresh through September. Now if he can only stop being such a
damned ball magnet. Wink

The last outing he looked a little fidgety. Tonight he looked focused and
confident. And he pitched a good controlled game. Good signs, and we sure
needed one.
