That got me thinking -- with Perez on the team and Burnett, Van Benschoten,
Bullington & Oquendo (not to mention Voglesong and Dave Williams) all on
their way up next year or the year after, it's time for the Pirates to get a
very top pitching coach. Fogg and Benson (if he's still on the team) could
use the help too.
Does anyone know a great pitching coach who is or soon will be out of work?
Maybe somebody who tried to manage and didn't do such a good job, or who's
hooked up w/ a manager who's about to get fired?
With a 100% brand new starting rotation about to arrive, this would be one
the best ways for Littlefield to spend the $6 Million saved on Ramirez. >> Stay informed about: Is There A Great, Unemployed Pitching Coach Out There? |

I don't know if Spin needs to go, but if he is fired, and it's unlikely he
will be fired, Don Gullett might be available given the disaster occurring
in Cincinnati. He is supposed to be able to work miracles with poor talent;
perhaps he can bring his miracle work to Pittsburgh. >> Stay informed about: Is There A Great, Unemployed Pitching Coach Out There? |

One of the FoxSports segments featured a lengthy interview with former
Pirate Grant Jackson, 19 years a ML pitching coach until last year. He
lives in Pittsburgh and said that he had submitted his resume to the
Pirates. "I could be a big help with Latin pitchers who don't speak much
English." Wonder if he had anyone in particular in mind?
