It's obvious he's in pain now even when he's =not= throwing. He's begun to
play defense like a man in fear of the ball -- with, sad to say, good
reason. If I were this organization, I'd try to get him to move his
timetable up a bit; he's not helping the club (or Randy's peace-of-mind) in
the field, and he's not helping the club at the plate, but he could be ready
a little bit sooner to help right the ship =next= year if he goes in early
(non-pitchers are usually at full strength six-to-nine months after
successful Tommy John surgery).

The season was, effectively, surrendered the day Brenly was allowed to
escape. At the time, I thought it was important that Luis be the
professional and show the kids what it meant to give it all up each and
every day, each and every =moment= of every day, no matter how badly you
might wish you were anywhere else doing any=thing= else.
That's obviously not happening. The young guys are taking more of a Shea
Hillenbrand approach to their major-league duties this year, with several
players regressing or not even =trying= when they hit the field -- or in
workouts. Time for Gonzo to take care of Gonzo, hope the bad apples can be
tossed out of the barrel this winter, and start fresh next year.

Friday, replacing Andy Good on the roster. (And in our hearts. Awwwwww....)
