I'm beginning to think you're somehow related to Donnie.

Don't you think Mattingly would more "clueless" that Torre? ie: No

Why do you think Girardi would be disrespected? He won 3 WS with the
Yankees, with many of the same players now on the team. He played with
Jeter, Posada, Rivera, Pettitte (if he comes back). He was NL manager of
the year last year. He was a bench coach for the Yankees in 2005.

Because his name doesn't begin with "Don Mattingly". >> Stay informed about: Girardi Would Not Be Respected |

Well, you're the second person in this thread to suggest that. I was
hoping that Alan would have semi-intelligent explanation for himself.

I liked Girardi as a player.......but......
GIRARDI WILL BE FIRED IN 6 MONTHS IF HE WERE YANKEE MANAGER.
His ego will be the demise of him. >> Stay informed about: Girardi Would Not Be Respected |

I think if the Yankees were smart, Girardi would be their guy. I think he's
tough, fiery, more aggressive than Torre and he did a very good job with
Florida.
I just don't see Mattingly. To throw an inexperienced manager into this
situation with all its pressure is a major step backward to me. Just because
he was a popular player and managed for the last four years "in his
dreams".... doesn't make him qualified at all. Employers would laugh at me
if that's how I presented myself for a job.
However, this is the Steinbrenners... and they're not always smart. In fact,
I see them going back to flying by the seat of their pants, which is
something Joe Torre and Brian Cashman helped them avoid for awhile now.
That's something I'll really miss.
