I worked the day my grandfather died three years ago. I had an
obligation to be there, and I was.
I took a final exam on the day after my father died 22 years ago. I
played softball the day my grandmother died 24 years ago -- the team
needed me, and would have forfeited the game without me being there.
The Yankees played the day after Thurman Munson died in 1979. In
1978, the Angels played Saturday afternoon and lost to the White Sox.
Later that night, outfielder Lyman Bostock was shot and killed. The
Angels played Sunday afternoon and won 7-3.
I don't have a problem with them cancelling the game. But like Ray,
elsewhere in this thread, I don't see anything wrong with playing
either.
