Well, "Dice-K" was "on", wasn't he?

The A's mustered two hits against him in almost seven innings, while
whiffing NINE times. I fear this will be a consistent theme in 2008,
as this offense struggles to score runs against good pitchers.

Is there any shame in that? No. Will it be frustrating? Yes.

Good to see Cust get a home run, and Blanton pitched well enough to
win on most days. The bullpen was fine.

A "good" loss, if you're into that sort of thing (which I am not). But
the game certainly was winnable, although I wouldn't suggest the A's
should/could have won it.

I like to see competitive baseball, so despite what I noted above
about "good losses", I'll take competitive games in 2008.

A's Record: 1-2
A's Should-Be Record: 2-1
