Game 115: Don's Aug. 13th grade/thoughts !!! - I guess one of the fears some of us had as to the effect of the beating the Sox gave the Rangers may have come true. Game 62--May 13th--Don's grade/thoughts !!! - opinion from Joe Morgan last night on ESPN. He's of the opinion that the Yankees recent 4 game losing streak is the sign of things to come. Basically that their winning up to now has been with smoke and mirrors and that it can't last much..

Game 36---May 13th.---Don's grade/thoughts !!! - WOW, what a crazy and wild game. And probably the stupidest managed game I've seen in ages. I just want to revisit Manny's defense a bit. I know it's a Fenway Park
thing and because he can play so shallow. But it's more than that. It's
the short quick throws. I mean how often does he even come close to a
bad throw?

And there's been talk for a while now that between the state of the
market and him only having one year left on his contract after this
season he might be most tradable now. I think that would be a shame, in
part because of his being 18 home runs away from 500. With his slow
start I doubt he'll get there this year but next is a lock, assuming
good health. I think he should do it in a Red Sox uniform. We've earned
it.

I missed his name but I've got one thing to say to that jockey in the
pre-game who said that while players might like the big lead, fans would
rather a 3 or 4 game division lead. And it's the same thing I said to
people who wanted the Sox to lose a game or 2 after going up 3 - 0 in
the 2004 World Series to make it more interesting. ARE YOU FREAKING
INSANE???

Man what a frustrating game. Seemed like the writing was on the wall for
a Papi or Manny heroic night. It appear that that magic is gone. I'm
just going to stop looking for it. Really, I am. Honest, I mean it.
What you don't believe me?

Still got to feel pretty good about taking the last two in this series
at least with Beckett and Dice-K going.

The amazing thing about this resurgence of Mike Timlin is that he's
pitching longer stints where he used to only go an inning at a time.
And he's coming in with men on and leaving them there.

He only needs to hit home runs at a 40 per year pace to get 18 for the
remainder of the season. 500 is certainly obtainable this year if he
gets his bat going.

I have had faith in Timlin coming back and being a useful 1 inning
pitcher for the 7th or 8th inning. I am surprised that they are trying
the multiple inning appearances since anything over 1 inning has
appeared to be a weak point over the last couple of years. Maybe that
is just the WBC effect and this year's injury in the back of my mind.

Horrible loss last night...almost as bad as the extra inning loss in
Seattle. I do not like what I see. We have been losing leads and coming
up empty for a month now....FUCK. Things like when Lugo got thrown out
at third the other night are killing them. Or like when lugo stopped a
ball towards the middle last night and chucks it to Pedroia. Lugo could
have thrown fatso out at first but no. He acted like a spaz and in the
end..the sox lose again.
