According to NESN at least the reports of Ortiz having an MRI and
possible surgery after the season are premature.

I found it interesting that when they listed the 36 games against
Toronto, Baltimore, and Tampa Bay and their total losing record that
they didn't include the 6 games against NY w ho is right in that mix at
this point.   In fact, including the Yankees in withg those other
teams the Sox have a 25 game stretch against just those 4 division
teams, from August 28th. to September 23rd. Likely to be more important
than even this stretch they're in the midst of right now.

I'm utterly shocked that NESN made no mention of Ortiz giving the bat to
VLad just before he started hitting lots of long balls at the home run
derby Monday night.
I think I like getting to Halladay almost as much as who his biggest fan
here is as because it helps the Sox win. To his credit (Roy's, not
Curly. Curly gets no credit.), he DID stick around for a while.

It was intersting to note that coming in Wake's ERA was just higher
than Roy's and coming out it was just under.

Very encouraging to see Lugo get 2 more hits tonight.

And another good inning by L'il Manny. Between him, Paps and Okajima
they can stand some of these 6 inning starts. His emergence this year
is huge.

A nice clean well played game to start the second half. Still no power
but that's okay.

This game's +s and -s and STAR and comments:
Starting pitching:
4 runs in 6 inningas is a grey area as far as quality goes so it gets
the grey area pass to.
Relief pitching:
1 inning by 3 different relivers has to be graded overall in a game with
a 3 run lead.
Offense:
Papi's 3 hits, 2 runs and 3 RBI and Manny's 2 hits, run scored and 3 RBI
are too close to distinguish from so a " + "is given to each of them.

BTW, I DO realise that both the season's record and my "Make Hay Period"
numbers are wrong. They will both be fixed tonight. I hope.
