Gagne a Ranger....

I gotta tell you I like what happened this off season. I agree with
the previous poster that Hicks should not be allowed to play in the
sand box with Alex Boras because Boras takes advantage of him. And
that will happen with Zito too.

But here's what's significant- They are going after the pitchers!!!!
They didn't even come up when it came to resigning Carlos Lee. They
let Matthews walk when he got *ahem* $10 million dollars!?!?!?? DeRosa
got $5 million!!!!??! I liked both of them but their new suitors are
in for a rude awakening when they see their guys outside fo the
Ballpark @ Arlington.

They picked up Cattalanto and Lofton with reasonable salaries and now
they have a bunch left to get some pitching. If Hart was still here
they would have signed Carlos Lee for $90 million over 3 years and the
rotation would be Chan Ho Park, Jonathan Danks, Dustin Diamond and John
Rocker. Your thinking Thomas Diamond? No its Screech from saved by
the Bell. Thomas Diamond would have been traded for the spinners on
Alex Boras' SUV because Hicks thought they were "sparkly."

Blow it all on pitching. Land Zito or Mulder and spend too much for
them. Just get the pitching here. Get 4 big name starters here and
guess what, you can win a pennant. Look at the Braves, their bats have
sucked but they have 15 penants in a row before last season.

And you know what happens then, all of the bats are going to come to
Texas for cheap. First off, they will be on a contender and everyone
wants a ring. Secondly, learning under Jaramillo and in the Ballpark @
arlington is going to inflate their numbers so the next year they can
pop a free agent deal like what Matthews and DeRosa did.

Spend it all on Zito. I hope Hicks fires his pistols into the air
yelling "yee haw" after Boras accepts his offer which will be roughly
the equivilent of the gross national product of Equador.

Aparently not. They put their foot down on an offer knowing full well that
Frisco was offering more in gaurunteed money...
