So, who's gonna win the big banana -- the Boston Hose or the St. Louis
Birds? Is it gonna go a full 7 games or be decided earlier? Who do
you expect will get the WS MVP? I can tell you one thing, if St.
Louis takes the lead, they will be looking over their shoulders
knowing full well that a 3-0 lead in games means nothing to the
BoHose.

My head says the Cards but after that comeback (and also because I'd like to
see the curse lifted) I'm plumping for the sox and Manny to do well.

Before I go into detail, I should warn i'm heavily bias, all this year
i've been cheering on the BoSox, and have been strong in my belief
that this year, finally is THE year the sox win the world series
again.....

Sox to win first two games. Thats assuming the bionic Schilling works
as well in game 2 as he did in game 6 against the Yankees.
Tricky thing comes to games 3, 4 and 5. No DH, and that means David
Ortiz at 1st base. Ok, Kevin Millar isn't a gold glove calibre 1st
basemen either, but I do think its a bit better at it than Ortiz.
If it does get back to Fenway, and even if it doesn't, I think the Sox
will win it.

I did notice, on the two rosters, the Cards are going in with 11
pitchers (leaving 14 position players), and the Sox are only taking
10, dropping Ramiro Mendoza for 3rd baseman Kevin Youkilis. I guess
they want the extra man because of the likely pinch hitting they'll
need to do in games 3-5.

Oh, and since Wakefield is pitching game 1 for the Red Sox, Mirabelli
is going to his first start of the post season, although once
Wakefield is out of the game, I would expect Varitek in fairly
quickly, especially if Mirabelli has had a couple of poor at-bats.

If you cant be biased when your team is in the WS, then you never
will. Let it all hang out! I havent followed either team this year
-- with the exception of noting they are both very good. The dark
side of me wants the Sox to lose -- I dont have anything against them,
but that curse of theirs seems to rattle their brains and keeping it
going and watching them writhe in agony is a bit tempting. No
offense. Smile

I like St. Louis because of Tony Larussa -- former A's manager, so
there is a bit of sentimentality there. Otherwise, I will just enjoy
the competition and may the best team win. Having written that, I
have to wonder if the best team doesnt always win the WS -- how else
would one define "best team?"

Very nice knowledgable analysis! Should the Sox lose, I shall post
your earlier comments back to the group -- to wit:

"...all this year i've been cheering on the BoSox, and have been
strong in my belief that this year, finally is THE year the sox win
the world series again....."

Smile

For once, I can watch largely unbiased.

The Sox are AL, they pissed on Steinbrenner's party, and they've got the
C*rs* to live with.

The Cards are my favourite NL team (savvy fans, great tradition), and
they've got Pujols and Rolen.

I just hope it goes to 7.

You are really hedging your bets. But okay, I'm easy, you can change
your mind after the final game.
