Miami Takes Series with 16-13 Win Over Tech
ATLANTA - Ryan Braun had four hits and Brian Barton added four RBI as No.
5 Miami (24-6) took advantage of five Georgia Tech errors to defeat the
Yellow Jackets 16-13 on Sunday afternoon at Russ Chandler Stadium.
The win was the 1000th of Miami head coach Jim Morris' Division I
coaching career. Morris posted 504 of those wins from 1982 to 1993 as
head coach at Georgia Tech.

Reliever Danny Gil (5-0) earned his second win of the series, allowing
just one run on two hits while striking out three Tech batters in one
inning of work. Starter Brandon Camardese lasted just 2.2 innings, as the
Jackets scored seven runs on seven hits while earning two walks from the
Miami southpaw.

Clifton Remole led Tech (17-13) offensively with a 5-for-5 performance on
the afternoon. He also drove in three runs and scored two. Brandon Boggs
had three hits while Eric Patterson and Andy Hawranick added two hits
each for Tech.

The Jackets' three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning weren't enough
to overcome the six-run margin the Hurricanes built courtesy of a total
of 12 runs scored in the sixth and seventh innings. Remole led off the
ninth with a single and advanced to third on a single by Whit Robbins,
but was thrown out at home by left fielder Jon Jay when trying to score
on a fly ball by Patterson. Wes Hodges then reached on a two-out error
and scored on a double by Boggs, and Micah Owings drove in Boggs with a
double to left center field. Steven Blackwood ended the Jackets' scoring
threat with a groundout to first base.
