2b - Charles Jeroloman, Brett LeVier
3b - Chad Spann, Scott White, Andrew Pinckney
ss - Dustin Pedroia, Christian Lara, Zach Borowiak

I dunno... Borowiak to Jerolman to Bladergroen doesn't exactly roll off
the tongue... >> Stay informed about: Future Red Sox |

West was okay, Bladergroen was hurt but also bad when healthy. Saw him in
Cap City and thought he was better then.

Jed Lowery is much better than both

I like Pinckney, lot of power.

Pedroia is a solid player, Machado is also very good (doesn't get credit but
younger than you'd think)

Moss, Durbin, Murphy are good none are great. Fulse and VDB stink. Ellsbury
may be very good.

Pitching is still far and away the strength. We've got Lester coming,
Delcarmen, Edgar Martinez (big surprise), Galvez, Rozier, Bucholz, Bowden.
There could be 4-5 big league pitchers in the group so I'm not down on the
system because we traded a few prospects. >> Stay informed about: Future Red Sox |

I have a friend whose son roomed with LeVier at Sacramento St where
both played on the baseball team. Boston signed LeVier as a non-drafted
free agent. My friend says he is a real good young man. However, as a
pro he has shown almost no power or ability to draw walks. I'm afraid
he is just minor league filler.

What organization does he play for?

Me too. Spann and White have both faded as prospects.

Moss had a great 2004 and a decent 2005. Murphy is 2 years older than
Moss and had a 2005 season very close to Moss with both playing in the
Portland OF. Yet some are proclaiming it a breakthru year for Murphy
while saying Moss had a poor year. Go figure.
I think you are being too hard on Matt VDB. He played at 3 levels last
year and struggled only at the top level. Here are his college and pro
stats:

He doesn't lok like a future star, but I am not writing him off yet.He
might become a good backup player given his speed. I suspect he will be
starting for Portland this year.Let's see how he does. >> Stay informed about: Future Red Sox |

No catchers. Lot's of good defensive OF's led by Ellsbury. Defensively
Durbin is very good too. Moss and Murphy can both hold their own. 2B and SS
there are a few but I think of the current group only Machado, Lowrie and
Pedroia will play MLB. I honestly also like Andrew Pinckney at 3B. I'll be
interested to see how quickly the move ellsbury along this year. He will
IMHO shift Coco back to LF when he's ready and Manny is gone. >> Stay informed about: Future Red Sox |

Ellsbury and Lowrie are at least 3 years away from being ready to play
for Boston. Machado is ready this year. Pinckney and Arias both are
power hitters and are 2 years away from playing in MLB. >> Stay informed about: Future Red Sox |

Ellsbury is closer than 3 years away. He is the same age as Hanley Ramirez
played 3 years of colege ball and tore up the NYPL last year. Without any
hicups he may start the year at AA, if not high A and will certainly finish
at least at AA. He will most likely begin 2007 at AAA and from there I'd bet
he'll get a September call-up if not sooner. Arias will never play in Fenway
unless it's at a fantasy camp. Pinckney I'd agree two years is fair. Machado
is better than ready he's as good as Cora as a utility player and as a
hitter he'll be far superior to Gonzalez, with a ton of speed. As for Lowrie
he also played major college ball for 3 years and may be here sooner but 3
may be fair for him too.
