After struggling with injuries and hitting .178, along with some mishaps
in center.

Can't take away all the great memories for us, though. Good luck,
Jimmy.

I hope he catches on in the NL and comes to Busch for a curtain call
this season... I'd not yet purchased tickets for the Padres series in
July...

Call me sentimental, but I'd like to see him sign a one day contract
with the Cardinals and retire. I'd be first in line for tickets to Jim
Edmonds Day.

I think that's an awesome idea and wish it could happen.

I agree....I wish he would have just retired after last year as a Cardinal
the way it should have been.

Better if Edmonds had retired as a Cardinal after the 2006 season so
we wouldn't have the memory of his stinking up the joint and severely
hurting the team in 2007.

THE UNIMAGINABLE:

"Could the Cubs be interested in signing center fielder Jim Edmonds,
just released by the Padres after hitting .178 and struggling in the
field? They are exploring the possibility, according to some in the
know.

"Manager Lou Piniella long has desired another left-handed bat to go
with Kosuke Fukudome. Felix Pie has been unreliable. Signing Edmonds
could allow the Cubs to send Pie to Triple-A Iowa for steady work.

"Asked about the possibility of a left-handed bat being added,
Piniella said, "We'll just have to see what happens."
