Last night I watch Game 4 of the 1972 WS on ESPN Classic. It was fun,
and brought back alot of old memories. Talk about some clutch pinch
hitting in the bottom of the 9th! Also some brutal plays with runners
breaking up the possible double play. Dick Green must've felt like a
marked man. I think the announcers were Monte Moore and Curt Gowdy.
Blue Moon Odom pinch ran in the 9th and I had to explain why to my son,
who had never seen a pitcher pinch run.

Does anyone know if they cut alot of the 'fluff' out on these old
games? It seemed to roll along pretty quick and smooth.

Oh yeah, A's won 3-2, and took a 3 game to 1 lead.

The cut out a lot (sometimes entire innings). Up until some time in the
late 60's or early 70's the tv announcers for the Series were from the two
teams.

That makes alot of sense. About mid game I was in the kitchen for a
few minutes and suddenly it's the 6th inning. I wondered if I missed a
time warp, or something.

I like that idea. It gives fans a chance to hear what others around
the country get to hear and how good or bad that may be. Please,
anybody except Tim McCarver!
