Over 36 HRs and over 100 RBI. If that's "average," then please give me a
lineup of nine "average" guys.

OK, let's revisit those numbers at the end of the season.

Fits right in with Leyland's "horseshit" rant. The one guy you call out by
name is, in fact, 5 for 5 in save situations, and, in fact, got the last two
outs in the Tuesday night game, without allowing a base runner.

In article <10302-4833B6D0-15 DeleteThis @baytvnwsxa002.msntv.msn.com>, Jack Johnson says...

Almost every time I watch them you can see indications of a lack
of focus on plays. (Raburns dropped foul fly, 3 errors yesterday etc.)
Since the start of the season you can see them just going through
the motions. Without Renteria, the game would have been lost 8-7.
A team with this many veterans shouldn't be making this many errors.

He called out Guillen, but without using his name and also said "If
they want to play games, I'll play games, and it won't be long before
I'll put names to it, if they want me to. I'm not quite to that point
yet. They want to play games, I'll play games. I'll quit protecting
some of these guys night after night after night. And I'll put some
names to it." Good, It's about time we have a little accountability.

Runs Per Season:
31' Yankees (1,067)
99' Indians (1,009)
2008 Tigers (204)

LOL

It was hilarious to see Leyland get so worked up over Grilli's
comments.

Personally, I think Grilli's comment about the Tigers being "stale
and stagnant" are right on target.

Exactly. Verlander pitched 6 strong innings for a change giving up
only 1 run. It was the bullpen in the form of Rapada and Lopez who
gave up 7 runs, 6 of them earned.

Tiger bats exploded after a closed clubhouse meeting. Let's hope it
continues.

Keep in mind that it's just Seattle they are playing, and that Silva
is not a very good pitcher.

Do you think the Yankees got a great return on their investment of 25
million for A-Rod? Hint: stupid question.

Is it a stupid question?

Remember, the Tigers could have spent that money on pitching,
which I think was the Tigers biggest weakness going into the
season. Instead they spent it on an above average power hitter
(and a mediocre fielder) on a team full of the same already.

I think the Tigers got robbed by Cabrera, and that the money
would have been better spent on pitching.

ah well, you were wrong. They persued offense, thinking (rightly) that with
'07 pitching and more runs scored, they would win more ballgames. The
offense has fallen far short of expectations, so far.

I don't think I was wrong, I think the Tigers front office was wrong.
