This commercial announcement brought to you by the Dodger brass to convince
you that it is okay to blaspheme a shrine of baseball by making it a
shopping mall.

I have been to Anaheim, Dodger Stadium, Miller Park, Candlestick, was the
old park in Pittsburgh called Three Rivers? And whatever they called where
the Padres played before the new place. Miller Park is great and visually
appealing. I enjoyed watching games there. Though, it felt a bit like a
circus, it had a 'good times' feel to the place. Dodger stadium beats that
with classic tradition. Anaheim was fine too. No complaint there.

I went to Candlestick as a kid and got so cold in the upper deck that my
feet were numb. The heater in the car heated them so fast they hurt, burned
and itched like the worst athlete's foot you ever had. I have no idea who
won that game but I will always remember that feeling in my eight-year old
feet.

While my stadium experience hasn't included the great halls of sport
the midwest apparently proffers, I've been to enough to know that in
no way should a top ten list NOT include the Phone Booth.

Also, if Dodger Stadium food is a bit generic, the Dodger Dog in
itself should bump LA's rank over Anaheim in that category--the sticky
buns are a distant memory.

Finally, I heard the guy who did the article on the Dan Patrick show.
He's among the growing legion of Red Sox fans. Check "fan IQ" and see
where they rest. I can't imagine a Red Sox season ticket holder
saying "You know, we're probably middle of the road in that
category."

Useless list.

I grew up watching the Dodgers, and I still remember the spectable (c.
1962-1972) of walking in from the parking lot behind home plate, and
the surprise of seeing the field spread out so far below. The green
grass, the crushed brick infield, the (smoggy) skyline beyond (it made
for good sunsets). And in 6th grade, game 7 of the World Series, when
Mrs. Lazzareto let us take our shoes off and listen to the game in
school (Koufax-Kaat). And when Koufax and Drysdale held out for
bigger contracts (the first MLB players to get $100k for a season).

Good times, good times....

Oh, and the time in high school when my friend Pat S. got drunk and
fell out of the bleachers into the bullpen and broke his wrist. The
bullpen trainer wrapped his arm up and sent him back to his seat.

Does anyone take anything Sports Illustrated says seriously? This is
the magazine that once featured a TV game show (Jeopardy) as if it
were a sport. They had feature article on a beer league softball
player once!!! This magazine would have faded away decades ago were it
not for that french guy (what was his name, Pierre La Tart?) who took
over as editor, and created the swimsuit edition!!!
