I grew up watching the Dodgers, and I still remember the spectable (c.
1962-1972) of walking in from the parking lot behind home plate, and
the surprise of seeing the field spread out so far below. The green
grass, the crushed brick infield, the (smoggy) skyline beyond (it made
for good sunsets). And in 6th grade, game 7 of the World Series, when
Mrs. Lazzareto let us take our shoes off and listen to the game in
school (Koufax-Kaat). And when Koufax and Drysdale held out for
bigger contracts (the first MLB players to get $100k for a season).
Good times, good times....
Oh, and the time in high school when my friend Pat S. got drunk and
fell out of the bleachers into the bullpen and broke his wrist. The
bullpen trainer wrapped his arm up and sent him back to his seat.
