I'm a fan of the Rays. (Prefer Devil Rays). Really like the team,
although, they are secondary to my Detroit Tigers. But, I am a fan.
And, I want to see them not only have a "winning" season, but, go
further.

I thought Lou was a good manager, and hoped he would turn things around.
A little disappointed, when things didn't move as quickly, as I would
have liked. But, things are looking up. The Rays have the
great.....Carlos Pena (former Detroit Tiger). Great bat. Right now,
2nd in the A.L. in homers. Another great season, so far.

Why did the team change the mascot name? I preferred "Devil Rays". I
own a lot of gear, with the old logo, preferred it. Don't understand
the change?

"Devil" Rays fan,

Jack.

New owners wanted to make some The new uniforms are more traditional looking
and have had a good reception here.
Try out some new gear - you will like it.

Pena is a great player. Longoria can be one too. We are still a few years
away but the new ownership is doing the right things. Need to lock Upton
and several others to long term contests and need Baldelli to come back.

Since Detroit has our old line coach we follow Michigan teams down here too

Yeah, I guess I'll have to accept the new logo. I see they still keep
the "devil" ray on the sleeve.

Tampa Bay impresses me with their pitching, and outfield. You've got
Troy Percival, which Detroit had a couple years, but was injured the
entire time. And, Kazmir.....probably one of the best arms in the
American league. BJ Upton and Carl Crawford, in the outfield, are
great players, with lots of depth.

I was on the Rays home page, yesterday. The new stadium looks like
it'll be great. It's funny though, nowadays, stadiums seem to be
expendable, more than they used to be. Tropicana Field isn't that old.
I've never been there, but, I've seen it on TV....looks fine to me.
Some people criticized it, for not being "fancy" enough. It's little
more than a decade old. It seems to be the trend right now, for
baseball teams to build new fields. If one gets one, they all do. Now
Tiger stadium.....there was an old, run down reason for a new stadium.
Comerica Park is fantastic compared to that we had.

St Petersburg is a retirement town. A new stadium wil raise taxes for fixed
income retirees. It isn't getting much support here. I remember Frank
Howard hitting a home run out of old Tiger Stadum

You guys just got Gabe Gross, he will be a big help on your team. He was for
the Brewers, scored the last winning run in last Wednesday's game against
the Phillies. However, the Brewers roster is big with good players that they
decided to trade him for minor leaguer pitcher Butler.

Times are changing here in st.pete Sam, it's no longer wrinkle city

I think the average is 39 and most are younger professional types.

I live within 8 blocks of the Trop and we (the wife and I) are season ticket
holders, we get the luxury of riding our bikes to the game.

BTW I'm 47 and the wife is 46

Are they going to build a new stadium? The drawings I've seen, look
great. But, Tropicana Field isn't that old, and, it looks great to me.

I prefer the "Devil Rays". It sounds tough. The Devil Ray is found in
the oceans, off Florida....a good mascot. I also prefer it, as a logo.
Different. Great colors too.....Green, blue and black. I decorated a
room, in my basement, around it. (I guess it's collectable?).

The Trop was built in the mid-late '80s, it is far from "great". If you
have ever been to a White Sox game in Chicago, imagine that stadium with
a roof.
