Derosa's defense has been impressive so far. He's made quite a few diving
stops that I'm pretty sure Castilla wouldn't have made at age 36.
Castilla's bat has been a bit more effective, but as I recall he's a good
fastball hitter, and he's back in the thin air at Colorado which gives his
bat an extra boost and forces a pitched ball to fly straighter... so he sees
more fastballs or fastball-like pitches in Colorado than anywhere else.
I'd be very happy if Derosa stepped up his offense a bit, but he's only made
one error so far to go along with several stellar defensive plays. He's
saved enough runs that, at the two-week mark, I'm not disappointed with him.
