Are Derek Jeter's days numbered?

There was the idea that one day soon Jeter would move to First Base,
or that Jeter could go to Third Base and Arod could move to first. Now
Teixeira kind of complicates that. In a few years, when Jeter can no
longer play a respectable shortstop without embarrasing his legacy,
where do the Yankees move him? Or do the Yankees no care about
Shortstop defense? I think Jeter personally cares about how he plays
on the field and would not tarnish his legacy by staying there past
his time. Its also hard to imagine someone with Jeter's power as the
Yankees DH. So does Jeter just retire after this contract, or do the
Yankees actually let him go sign with another team? I just don't see
how the Yankees keep him on the team when he can no longer play
shortstop.
