Rooting for the Rockies. Not doing much good since the NLCS games against
the snakes. I think part of the problem is that the Rockies were just
"hangin' out" for a week before the World Series.

Do the rules of Major League Baseball permit a team to play games on days
when they're otherwise idle? I mean, instead of being idle and doing
nothing, could the Rockies have played games -- maybe against one of their
AAA affiliates -- just to stay sharp?

I think it would have made sense, but I'd hate for the commish to say, "Off
with your head!" to the Rockies management.

and what's worse is that there is a big long lay-off coming up. by
next spring, the rockies might not even remember how to play the game.
it's just not fair.

The Rockies need a pressurized dome. Outdoor baseball in Denver is just
wrong.

I visit Denver regularly and I know what you mean. On the other extreme, the
local San Diego Padres have had only sixteen rainouts in the club's
history -- one this century; last one before that in 1998.

Yeah, but if they made it to the World Series, it's possible they
could have had games postponed due to.....FIRE!!? Then there's the
earthquake in '89. Ahhhhh, California!

Q: Do you know why we're called "The Granola State"?

A: If you take out the fruits and nuts, there's nothing left but flakes.

Here's a little cheese with that whine.

Jacoby Ellsbury had 1 AB between September 30 and October 20. The
inactivity didn't seem to hurt him any.

Actually, here's a piece of trivia for you from Red Sox Nation about
that -- in 1946, the Red Sox won the AL pennant, and the Cardinals and
Dodgers had tied for the NL pennant. Back then, there was a best 2
out of 3 playoff, so the Red Sox played an exhibition game to "keep
sharp." During the game, Ted Williams was hit on the elbow and
injured, and it affected his ability to perform in the Series which
the Sox, of course, lost in 7 games.

No, Winter baseball "in Denver is just wrong." In fact, it's
wrong anywhere. Start the god damn WS by 10/1.

It's still hard to believe Teddy's Red Sox never won
another pennant.
