GREAT
Too bad Loney missed that hard grounder!

Bills looked a little upset after the game!
Losing shutout I assume!

Great Game Anywho!

Who is this Hull that was just brought up?

He's our AAA closer, posting a 3.18 ERA so far. Too bad they didn't
release Hernandez but they demoted Stults.

They demoted Stults because they weren't going to need him for a few days.
Seemed like odd reasoning to me. I mean, are they going to send him down
between starts and bring up a reliever every time? It's like Little is
trying to expand the roster early but of course he is using up options doing
it.

Stults used up an option when he was assigned to AAA at the beginning
of the season. Being sent down yesterday doesn't use up another one.
He can be promoted or demoted as many times as the Dodgers wish -
within the limit that he has to stay down for 10 days now, unless the
Dodgers dl another pitcher.

True but it still doesn't make sense to keep Hernandez and demote
Stultz who has been effective both in relief and in his start.
Hernandez may not have had a day off in 3-4 days but he wasn't on his
game the first time he went in much less after that. He was a gamble
an it's hasn't paid off. It'd be better to just eat the loss and dump
him. Too the fact that the steM released him when they were haveing BP
problems says a lot about the guy.

The Indians had released him, not the Mets. And while the Indians' BP
isn't great, it's average at least, maybe a bit above average.

But as I've argued repeatedly - I want Meloan up, and Hernandez gone.
So long as it doesn't cost the Dodgers a game, it might be better for
them if Hernandez gets hammered in his next appearance, after getting
sufficient rest. That being said, once the Dodgers decided to promote
Hernandez, it does make some sense to give him a real shot - at least
let's see if he can be effective with rest.

BTW, Meloan made his AAA debut the other day. Went 2.1 innings, gave
up a hr, a walk, and got two ks. The HR came after he had already
pitched several innings.

Yes, and that's because he made that occasional start. He could be
available in relief from friday anyway, not in 10 days, so why not
getting rid of the useless Hernandez? Are we waiting for him to spoil
another game or two?

I'm hoping that Hernandez' presence will void any need for Dotel, whom I
don't like at all; I wouldn't sign him as a free agent, let along give up a
top prospect like Hu.

Incidentally, I generally like our mgr and gm. Coletti didn't sign Hernandez
because he thought he was another Gagne; he KNEW Hernandez was what was
available at the moment. These guys are doing it for a living, and my
opinion is that nobody on this ng has any knowledge of the data they're
working with daily.

Except that I think Ima has a remarkably intuitive feel for this stuff.
I continue to be impressed with that, even when I'm in opposition.

hh

Above all, I want to reinforce the idea that this is a 162-game season;
unfortunately, if you follow a ng it necessarily becomes 162 one-game
seasons.
