I think OF for pitching is good move for Rays since they had surplus of OF
talent.

Losing INF Brendon Harris is bit of a problem though. Who will be SS and
2b? Zobrist?

Well I am not so surprised by your question. I guess you have a very
short memory. As for SS that will be filled by Jason Barttlett.
Zobrist will be a spot starter if lucky next year. As for 2B that
could be interesting. Right now that would most likely be Wilson. If
Longoria has a great spring, then look for Iwamura to move to second
and Longoria to be at 3B.

The trades involving Dukes, Young and Harris are good ones. The Rays
need another left handed pitcher and a left handed bat in the
outfield/DH. The trades appear on surface to fill some of those needs
and if they do sign Floyd then the left handed bat for the outfield/DH
role is filled.

By the way Iwamura natural position is 2B. If Longoria pans out in the
spring then we may have a very strong infield. Especially up the
middle. The last position to fill a glaring need is a decent hitting
catcher.

Longoria at 3rd, Iwamura at 2nd has always been the most likely scenario
for 2008. Wilson's never been looked at as more than a utility guy and
the Rays lost him on waivers to the Pirates a couple of weeks ago
anyway.

Wilson to waivers. I didn't see that one. That looks to be then
Guzman, Longoria or a possible third person who may come out of
nowhere to be the opening day 3B. Right now I would say it is
Longoria's to loose.

Has to be! I don't think the Rays would draft him and promote him
aggressively if they weren't going to give him a clear shot - the
organization really is better run than when Chucky LaMar had the reins.

True he is on a fast track up to the majors. I have seen many that
came up to fast that were highly touted and flop once in the big
leagues. Not saying Longoria is such. Stll looking at the lineup, the
Rays can afford him to be a bit overwhelmed at first.

Still would not be to far a reach. Since he would be the only rookie
on the projected starting lineup, there will be less pressure on him
to contribute as long as the veterans don't get off to a very slow
start.
