Cabrera will come around. There's always some adjustment in a league change.
Sometimes (but rarely), it's even a full season. Verlander concerns me...

The Tigers have Cabrera for EIGHT YEARS, so they still have time to
get things worked out. LOL

Yeah, but one of the justifications for the big trade
was that they wanted to WIN NOW. They should admit
that they just didn't want to invest the time and
effort to develop the talent they had and were looking
for the quick fix. You can see how that procedure is
panning out. If they don't win this year or next
what good is some of their aquisitions (Renteria I.E.)?
How long can we reasonally expect Pudge to be decent?
When was the last time the Tigers won a World Series
with just an average catcher? So far I just think
management is completely wrong on their Phylosophy
and now they are stocked TOO HEAVILY with old
ballplayers. The pitching is another sorry story.
Sure it's still early, but still it's not looking
good and deserves reevaluation. Again, what does
Chuck Hernandez do for this Team?

Robertson is about what I expected. I *think* Rogers is coming around. I
have not seen Verlander really inprove, however, since opening day.

You expected a 6.64 ERA and WHIP of 1.55 with only one win
out of seven starts?

I'll bet the Tigers front office sure didn't expect he'd be THAT bad.

>I *think* Rogers is coming around.

What about Rogers 6.27 ERA and 1.69 WHIP makes you think
he is "coming around" this season?

In his last four starts he has given up 24 hits, 15 runs and
walked 11. I don't see anything to indicate that he is
"coming around".

I expected better out of Robertson. Not Cy Young...but better.

Rogers...eh...he's old and I suppose he has to slow down eventually. He's
thrown better his last two starts, but I'm not sure what to expect with him
and I may not know what I think of him until the end of the season.

Verlander...utter disappointment. He's had better control.

Rogers retired the first 11 Twins he faced in order Sunday at the Metrodome
before Minnesota began chipping away at what had been a six-run lead. He
arguably should have finished his afternoon with seven innings and three
runs allowed, but a two-out error in the seventh extended the inning for the
Twins' go-ahead rally. Rogers allowed two runs on six hits in six innings to
the Yankees last week in the Bronx.

Yes, and Rogers set up that rally by giving up a double to Tolbert in
the seventh, then Miner and Seay came it and slammed the door shut
on the Tigers (after the hilarious Guillen throwing error...the entire dome
was laughing out loud).

Not a very good start for Rogers beyond the third inning, IMO.

I know, I was at that game.

The Tigers offense put up six runs, but the Tigers pitching gave up
seven. Same old story.

Neither are what anyone could consider as "quality" starts. The start
against the Yankees wasn't horrible, but it certainly wasn't good, either.

Should be interesting to see how he does tonight against the Yankees.
I'm guessing he'll go six innings and give up at least 3 or 4 runs and a
few walks. The question is, will the Tigers be able to score more runs
than Rogers and the Pen give up?

Well, Rogers has a pretty good game going, and luckily the Tigers
found a starting pitcher that sucks worse than theirs...Igawa, what a
disappointment he must be to the Yankees.
