I can't get that excited about Willis, with his 5.17 ERA (in the NL) last
year, but I'm liking Cabrera's numbers a lot, and yes, I'd trade Maybin for
an already proven young player in a heartbeat.

I would love this trade. Yes you have to give to get. And I believe that
Willis might benefit from a change of venue, and he is an innings eater.
But Cabrera is the prize.

I wonder though if Florida is using us for a better deal in Anahiem... Hope
not.

If the Angels get Cabrera, bet your house on them winning an AL
Championship.
Willis for Miller doesn't excite me, but the prospect of getting Cabrera
does. As for Maybin being "untouchable," often that word means if you want
him, you're going to have to offer something really big, and here we have
something really big. I would think that there are only two guys in the
Tiger organization today who are truly "untouchable," and they would be
Verlander and Ordonez, simply because you can't trade up from there.

Make that ONE opinion....this proves you spout a lot and do good
googling to spew facts, but without any foundation. Your data is OK,
but BK, you have NO baseball knowledge.
Oh Lord, I think thee....for what I am about to do....

According to what Albom is saying on the radio right now, the deal is
complete, and, the lead headline on the Tiger's website says "Tigers set to
acquire Cabrera, Willis," so it looks like it's gonna happen. Supposedly,
the Tigers are giving up four other prospects, besides Maybin and Miller.

I think so, because we're talking a **serious** upgrade in offense.

At upgrade of offense but a downgrade on defense?

Okay, if I were making the list, Granderson would be third, behind the two I
previously mentioned, but, if say the Brewers were fool enough to trade
Prince Fielder for him, I'd have to do it. You can't offer me enough to part
with Verlander or Ordonez. Well, you WOULDN'T offer enough. Ya know? We
could go off on ridiculous hypotheticals, like what if they offered Fielder
and a LHP prospect, but that ain't gonna happen.

With a name like "Badenhop," he should be a middle infielder...

No. I think Jones is an upgrade in left from '07, and the offensive upgrade
at 3B will be well worth it. I haven't seen him much either, but, I have not
heard anyone classifying him as a defensive liability. In spite of the last
sentence in the Freep article (which I did npt quote), I'd be looking to
hold on to either Thames or Inge as a utility man. I'd prefer Inge because,
if need be, he could probably cover middle infield. Then again, maybe Thames
will be platooning with Jones. IMO, the Freep is speculating based on
nothing...
