In Tom Boswell's article this morning I think he did a credible job, but I
can't see how you can quote those statistics and not give credit to Manny
Acta as putting the mish-mosh together into a credible team that went close
to 30 games above what all the pundits said they were going to do. My hat's
off to Manny. Job excellently done.

I didn't read the article, but I believe Manny has done an amazing
overall job, despite some of the strange decisions that I've complained
about.
But, they all do, and even the Yanks and Sox fans call for their
managers' heads on a daily basis......

It basically gave credit to these castoffs who had forged a competitive team
when everyone had them losing 120+ games, and how a bunch of pitchers with
no pedigree had all forged between 1 and 6 victories a piece, and how no
long ball hitter had emerged from the team giving up (fill in the blank from
Hernandez to Vidro and Soriano) and how Bowden and Kasten had put this bunch
of ragamuffins together, but it didn't even mention Acta's name in all of
this. I just thought someone needed to point out Manny's contribution to
this team.

Yeah, this season shows how good Acta and St. Claire are. Sign them to
longer deals.

Boswell has been resting on his laurels all season. I think he only
wrote 3 columns about the Nats all season. Too much caviar and fillet
mignon in the owner's suite is the problem. The Post needs a decent
sports editor. Either Boswell needs to write baseball columns or the
Post needs to hire a columnist to cover the Nats full time. (I vote for
Barry Slvruga).
