The prospects may be worthwhile down the road.
The Tribe may re-sign Blake for 2009.
I understand all of this, so far....

But - Dolan is sending cash to the Dodgers ?
Whaaaat ?
Who gave him the acid ?

I guess that I can try to root for the Dodgers, maybe.

The Dodgers are a top organization. Blake was a real team player,
never complained about anything.

the cash is to cover the remainder of blake's salary

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-trade27-2008jul27,0,4413705.story

"Meloan, 24, was moved from the bullpen to the rotation this spring.
He was 5-10 with a 4.97 earned-run average in 21 games for triple-A
Las Vegas. A September call-up last season, he posted an 11.05 ERA in
five games for the Dodgers.

Santana is by far the more intriguing prospect. The 22-year-old was
hitting .323 with 14 home runs for Class-A Inland Empire and his 96
runs batted in were the most in the California League. Santana hit
only .223 for Great Lakes, a low Class-A team, last season."

blake's been at 3B.

the inital response of the media wasn't so enthusiastic, but i doubt
it'll matter since the dodgers just picked up manny ramirez.
