That's hardly fair. There's a still an outside chance Jackson is
innocent.

I was teaching poetry class this morning, and I read Adrienne Rich's
"Power", which is loosely about Marie Curie being destroyed by the very
thing that gave her fame. Since I teach in the S.F. area, three of my
students said reading this poem today reminded them of Barry Bonds.

OMG....I hope to heck you set them straight. Comparing
Bonds to Marie Curie? He's a friggin athlete. His contribution
to society is nil, 100 years from now only a few sports historians
will even know who the heck he was. (and that goes for all out
sports "hero's) Besides, none of the history books I have read
mentions Curie whining about how badly everyone
treats her. Bonds may have the disadvantage of having a huge
target on his back but the guy does provide the ammo.

It's been about 100 years since Mdm. Curie was doing her research. I would
guess that less then 20% of our populace could associate the name Curie with
science and less then 5% with radioactivity. Whereas in 100 years at least
that many people will associate Bonds with sports and baseball. Not that
it's a good thing, its just the way things are as I see it.

I hope you're wrong....but when half of the kids graduating
high school can't find Peru on a map I suppose I shouldn't
be shocked to learn 20% of the populace doesn't know
who Curie was.

I am sure it was those reporters he accused of ruining him, that turned
him into a steroid junkie. Right Barry, I think that knee surgery
effected his brain.
