Ah yes, what a wonderful bullpen the Nothing Nuttings have! Do you think
it's time to dump Dumb-ass-o Marte yet? An ERA of 84.00! Is that really his
ERA or the price of gas?

#16 and counting!

oi! or however it's spelled. It's only the second game of the season
dude; can we at least try to avoid the annual declarations of disaster
and claims of being the worst ever every losing stretch as well as the
announcements of turning the corner and break out seasons at the
appearance of every win or hitting streak and see how things play out
for a while?

Everyone knew, or should have known, that with basically the same team
returning chances of ending the consecutive seasons losing streak were
slim to none. The new front office (and to a lesser extent owner)
already took steps in right direction this off-season when they didn't
panic and trade off what little talent they do have for a bunch of
names and marginal prospects when offered the chance to do so.

The real test(s) for them will come first in the June draft where
they'll have a chance to acquire a real cornerstone for their infield
that will likely cost them more than they've spent on a draft pick in
good long while AND at the trade deadline when they'll likely have an
opportunity or two to deal those players of value who won't be with
the team next time they post a winning season for prospects.

Until they've made their moves on those two fronts we're still
basicillay watching the left overs from the last group hold down the
fort and have no idea what Nutting, Hunntingon and Russell are made of.

Who are you and what have you done with the Paul we've come to know
and throw bricks at? Wink

Seriously, haven't I tried to say this the last couple of years and
gotten shot down each time?

Agreed. With the talent on the PBC no one, NO ONE, should be
untouchable, whether he's a crowd favorite, weak-hitting, shortstop or
a $5 million first baseman. The draft will really tell if the're
looking at the right things to rebuild the ballclub or not.

The simple point is "meet the new team, same as the old team!" Another
Nutting loser...

I think if you look back you'll see that I'm still the same... When
Cam Bonifay first came on board I was more than willing to give him
the benefit of the doubt and see how things played out. Initially I
was one of a very few who cheered the trade for Giles when most we're
calling it a bad deal sending that uber valuable lefty to Cleveland
for a platoon outfielder. As time went on though and it became
apparent that move was just dumb luck and he had no clue I sharpened
my fangs. I was probably less charitable to Littlefield because of
all his past associations with the former group and his hire looked
more like window dressing that real change.

Yeah but now we're in the beginning of one of those wait and see
cylces not near the end when mutiny should be well under way. If
Huntington passes on Pedro Alvarez in the draft for a pitcher or
another toolsy high school outfielder it won't be long before I grab a
shovel and lend a hand to grave digger.
