Baker has -2 (one game in Atlanta) and yesterday.
The team is missing on its cylinders through 12, some great games some
short.
Yes it is early, emotionally the fans are too keyed up.
Good signs so far: Sosa seems more patient, when he hits line drives he
usually gets on a 2-week tear. Ramirez continues to mash the ball, Alou
remains fairly hot.
Lee and Patterson are pressing. Hollandsworth now has a single (Al, ;>) :
They can run on Barrett, (:>( Bako got some hits as did Walker. Agonz is
on his way out.
Borowski is losing favor. >> Stay informed about: Back to .500 |

I'm a Cubs fan and want to see the win, but I'm afraid it's already over
for them. It's the Cubs you know, not the Yankees. Some things never
change. >> Stay informed about: Back to .500 |

Huh?....12 games and it is over?....Hmmm.
Gonna take a wild guess that your primary source of income is not offering
your services making inspirational speeches.

I would agree that 12 games is waaay too early it call it over.
Nonetheless, the losses have been disconcerting. Maddux looks unimpressive
to say the least. The bullpen situation (i.e., Borowski) looks bad at
points. CPatt needs to start clicking.
But with the starting pitching staff we have (ignore Maddux), things look
good in the long run. I would even volunteer that I am WAY too emotional
for 12 games in. I just can't help it. If the middle of the lineup keeps
going the way they've been, the Cubs should fare well tomorrow and in
Pittsburgh.
By the way, I was keeping track of the game on Gameday online, what happened
with Hollandsworth getting thrown out at third late in the game? Did he get
greedy? What happened?

Yes, I know it's very early. But still, I'm a firm believer that the
first two or three weeks of the season are the most important. Yes, you can
give examples of teams being under 500 and in the middle of the pack in July
but coming back and winning. Still, if we Cub fans are saying "it's still
early" two weeks from now then it's going to be another down year. Then
again, I still look on this team as the old cubs, not the new Jim Hendry
Cubs. >> Stay informed about: Back to .500 |
