first time there coming up...what's a better seat? The back rows of 111, or
the front rows of 203? I know 203 costs more...doesn't mean it's better.

thanks in advance...

The top 10 or so rows of the lower deck are under the overhang of the
upper decks. Both 111 and 203 are a long way from the action.

If those are your only choices, you'd be better off in the upper deck.
Price-wise and view-wise, you'll have better options. The lower
rows of the $10.50 seats (305-309 and 323-327) are surprisingly
good for the money.

Thanks...trouble is, for a group of 8, choices are limited...even in the
aftermarket.

I'm surprised to hear that - especially with how they are playing
lately. Although I have never needed to buy that many seats at
one time. The only other thing I should tell you is that the
seat-selection algorithm in the online ticketing program isn't
very smart. The people at the ticket windows use a different
program which is a lot smarter (they can probably look for
blocks of 4-in-front-of-4, 3-in-front-of-5, etc.). Good luck.

You can even call the ticket phone number and they can look to find seats
like that. The program they use shows them which seats are open in any
given section, the one on the net just finds the first ones it can, i
usually like to call rather than use the net cuz I end up getting better
seats.

The program on the net "appears" to put you in the lowest section
number for the price range you select. Unfortunately that doesn't
work with the way the sections are numbered.

As an example, the $14.50 seats in the upper deck extend from
section 310 at first base around to section 322 at third base.
If you simply ask for some $14.50 seats, it will almost always
put you in section 310 - usually in a higher row than any of the
other sections if you check them individually.

What I usually do is find seats online and then buy them at
the stadium in advance. For example, if I was going to tonight's
game, I'd pick out the next game we're going to, check the available
seats on the net and buy the tickets tonight when we're down there.
Requires a little advance planning but I can go to the window with
a good idea of what's going to be available. Don't have to pay the
obscene "service charges" that way either.

The series with the Dodgers averaged about 43,000.

Pretty impressive for a team that had just balled-up a road trip.

Then they went off to Miami, and drew about 11k.

You tell me which town has the better fans.

Thanks for all the help. I did call the ticket office twice. Splitting 4/4
didn't help much. I didn't mention it's for the Sunday Cubs game; slim
pickings on that one...

Depends on what you like, I think that the first row on 203 would be better
than last on 111. Due to the fact that on the last row of 111, you'll be
under the overhang of the 2nd level, fly balls etc will be hard to follow.
Front row on 203 (2nd) level has much more of a view of the playing field,
stadium, scoreboards, etc.

Ah.

Phoenix was formerly a Motorola company town. Chicago
is Motorola's original company town. They've been
transferring employees down here since WWII, and those have
been convincing their friends and relatives to move here
all along. So the Cubs are like Phoenix's second team.
For no good reason, because the Dbax always have a chance,
and the Cubs never do.

That explains everything. Cubs fans are a rabid bunch and tend to buy
their tickets as soon as single-game tickets go on sale. In addition,
because the Cubs are a good draw (and Chicagoans are always looking for an
excuse to travel to see the Cubs), a lot of "brokerages" buy heavily for
Cubs games and either scalp them separately, or bundle them into travel
packages.
