Well, now we're on to 2009.
No baseball till spring.
YUCK.
The Tribe's season was a mess.
Doing things on the cheap yet again, did not work.
Injuries provided an excuse to the mess that was already
in place by late May.
I have zero confidence in Hafner's return, and zero
confidence in Shapiro's ability to fix the problems the
Tribe obviously have. Dolan is no doubt happy, warm,
and counting his money, which he has more of than the pope.
Congrats to Charlie.
My only regrets with this year's World Series was
that it didn't go seven games.
The Phillies are a solid team, and fun to watch.
Great job Charlie, especially dealing wth
your personal tragedy. Until one has dealt with
such issues, one cannot comprehend them.
Congrats to the Rays and Joe Maddon.
They also are a solid team, and fun to watch.
Smart, good manager.

Thanxx for the pleasant word about the Phils who
join the follwing clubs as 2-time WS champs:
Your Tribe
The Cubs
The Mets
The Marlins
From this end, was just as disappointed as you
when the 2007 Red Sox destroyed your 'Ray' of
hope. That was a bad-me!!
The Tribe is probably under the curse of Bob Feller,
a nasty fellow, to be sure. >> Stay informed about: 2008 season is over. |

Mr Dolan never struck out with runners in scoring position! He never
threw a 'gopher' ball in the 8th inning with 2 on! He shelled out BIG
Bucks to Hafner and got Burned!
Prediction: Peralta to 3rd base in Goodyear Az 1st day of spring
training! Also, Tribe will NOT offer a serious bid for Sabathia, but
WILL try again for 2nd baseman! >> Stay informed about: 2008 season is over. |

i've already just ranted about why i don't want to see peralta at 3B,
but i will mention that the PD suggests that we're looking at a player
named teahen (that sounds "fowl" to me - like peahen) and trading for
him might also resolve the potental logjam assuming brantley & laporta
show up next year or so.
sabatha pitched a major buttload of innings last season (250+),
including his last three regular season games on only 3 days rest.
lee was pretty used up at around 220 innings his season, so
milwaukee definitely got their money's worth. i'd be especially leery
of offering him a long term contract & tying up all that money with
the risk of him being another jack mcdowell.
what i'd love to see is carmona shake off his sophomore jinx and be a
candidate for the cy young next year (i'm assuming lee's got this
year's locked up). it'd be tough to ding a pitching coach that's
produced THREE consecutive cy young awards by DIFFERENT pitchers.

Rocky Dolans, I remember him and his cauliflower ears well.

But hey we can just build a great wall around the country club to keep the
riff-raff out until the slump is through, yeah I realize that ain't exactly
democratic, but it's either them or us and and it's the best we can do.

Regardless, Barry, the Tribe went into 2008 knowing it had several
holes to fill on a team that was sooo close to winning it all, and did
nothing.
Oh wait, Jamey Carrol and Masa Kobayashi.
Righto.
My perception is that they knew that the 2007 success would fill seats, and
based upon
the "mentality" of the Dolan's, further investment was not necessary, as the
prior year's success would generate the needed revenue.
They have no desire to win, as Tribe fans do. Their entire mindset as owners
revolves solely around lots and lots of $100 bills.
The fans were spoiled by success from 10+ years ago????
Come on, that is ridiculous.
They remember an owner and GM who wanted to win, and win now.
That is what MLB owners should want to do, and accomplish.
Now we are back to the "Wait till next year" mantra, combined with
a "Feel sorry for the poor small market Dolan's".....
Both are pure unadulterated bullshit. >> Stay informed about: 2008 season is over. |
